Cradled in a high mountain valley showcasing towering mountains, raging rivers, over 1,300 lakes, and elevations exceeding 7,000 feet, Sublette County is an undiscovered paradise located just seventy miles south of Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Park. The rural setting, situated in western Wyoming, boasts just a mere 6,000 residents but has never been short on amazing scenery and abundant year-round recreation.

The Wind River, Gros Ventre, and Wyoming Mountain Ranges envelop Sublette County at the headwaters of the Green River on the west side of the Continental Divide, and the pristine Bridger Wilderness and Gros Ventre Wilderness Areas add to the area’s outdoor mystique. In a county where 80% of the land is public, deer and antelope significantly outnumber residents while elk, wolves, moose, grizzly, and black bear join their human counterparts in calling Sublette County home.

Although Sublette County residents are fortunate enough to experience the beauty of their scenic home every day, the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center invites people from across America and foreign countries to discover for themselves this unspoiled outdoor paradise. Encouraging the vitality of the entire Sublette County community, the Sublette County Chamber and Visitors Center represents the towns of Pinedale, Big Piney, Marbleton, Bondurant, Boulder, Cora, Daniel, and beyond.

Big Piney and Marbelton serve as gateways to the Wyoming Range Mountains and provide an escape from the summer heat. Experience solitude, check out the winter sports scene, visit the Green River Valley Museum, and discover the pioneer spirit at the historic Oregon Trail Lander Cut-off. The area beckons visitors to stay awhile with its alpine setting, crystal mountain lakes, high deserts, and the lush Green River. Nearby, Pinedale serves as the uncrowded side of Yellowstone and is a popular base camp for outdoor adventures and travelers heading to Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park.

No matter one’s outdoor sport preference, Sublette County delivers with an array of options and hundreds of access points. Test your angling skills at Fremont Lake, Half Moon Lake, or any of the other 1,000s of alpine lakes waiting in seclusion for visitors to discover them. Hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, and mountain biking trails abound for people of all skills and experience levels, while downhill skiing, Nordic skiing, snowmobiling, wildlife viewing, photography, and ice-skating are also popular area leisure activities.

Get away from the everyday grind with the help of western Wyoming’s beautiful mountain scenery, friendly communities, and year-round adventure. The Sublette County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center is happy to provide free area visitor guides, and they invite you to relax with them in one of America’s most pristine natural vacation destinations!
