Turn left down our 1-mile driveway to begin you wonderful ranch stay with us.

From the northeast entrance of Yellowstone Park, take Highway 212 east through Cooke City, continue another 13 miles, and then turn right (south) at Chief Joseph's Scenic Highway. Continue about 14 miles down the scenic highway and turn right at our sign.

The K Bar Z Guest Ranch & Outfitters is a small, family owned operation offering quality service. Our welcome mat is always out and we are looking forward to creating new adventures for our guests. As an all-seasons destination resort, we can design summer or winter fun for your entire family.

As our guest, you will stay in a private log cabin sheltered in the pines at the foot of Cathedral Cliffs. Each cabin has a fireplace, private bath, bunks for 4 and a loft.

We invite you to awake to the sound of the breakfast bell, breathe in the crisp mountain air and enjoy the beauty that surrounds the place we call home. Join our family for hearty, home-cooked meals in the lodge, informally on the deck or around a campfire. Visitors' requests for our favorite recipes prompted the publication of the K Bar Z Recipe Book!

There are many exciting adventures to partake in at the K Bar Z Guest Ranch. Horseback riding is at the hub of our activity slate. Trail rides and pack trips offer a variety of adventures for fishermen, photographers and sightseers. The trails of Shoshone National Forest offer the same opportunities to hikers. Many hiking trails are found around the K Bar Z. Take the trail along Crazy Creek or try hiking to the top of Beartooth Butte at 10,514 feet for the most spectacular 360 degree views in the country - be sure to bring your camera!

For those who like to fish we can provide you with two ways to enjoy the fishing in our area. One is to plan a Walk & Wade trip with one of our guides to the local streams and lakes. The other is a Day Fishing trip by horseback, about 2-3 hours into the back country. Leaving just after breakfast, our guides promise to have you back by the time the supper bell rings providing a full day of fishing.

We do not offer a swimming pool, that just wouldn't be our style. We prefer swimming in Crandall Creek where there is a sandy beach for the youngsters to play on, as well as rocks for all the big kids to jump off of. We guarantee that this mountain water will take your breath away.

If you would like to just sit back and take it all in, try a scenic drive or embark on a wagon ride. Outstanding scenic views greet the traveler who ventures into Yellowstone. Stop at breathtaking vistas along the Beartooth Highway or follow the trail of Nez Perce along Chief Joseph Scenic Highway on your way to take in the sights of Cody or Cooke City. Wagon rides are led by the two work horses on our ranch, (Poncho and Lefty) on an after dinner wagon ride or an occasional wagon cookout dinner. Weather permitting, these can be arranged ahead of time.

Our family specializes in warm, friendly hospitality which increases our circle of friends each year. In order to do this, our reservations are limited to 30 guests at one time.
