Nestled amid farms and ranches, Wheatland is the county seat and largest town in Platte County. It boasts a museum, public golf course, city parks with a free camping area, tennis courts, and a swimming pool.
Nearby Chugwater is one of the towns in Platte County. Named for the “water at the place where buffalo chug”, the town is a peaceful oasis offering western hospitality and a bounty of western history.
The town of Guernsey was known as the Emigrant’s Wash Tub, due to all the pioneers on the Oregon Trail who came to bathe and do their wash. the town was incorporated in 1902 when the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroads reached the area.
Glendo, one of the first five telegraph stations on the Overland Stage Express, was established when the railroad came through. glendo Reservoir is one of the largest bodies of fresh water in Wyoming and affords recreational opportunities for all. Aviation buffs, mark your calendars for Glendo’s Fall Fly-In.
