Moorcroft
Pop. 807 Elev. 4,206

Alexander Moorcroft, the first white man to build a cabin in these parts, may have given his name to this town. The name might also have come from the English hometown of first postmaster, Stocks Miller. A "Dr. Moorcroft" also came here to hunt every year around the time the town was established, in 1889. Perhaps the town was named for all three men.
