Susan Wissler 1853-1938
406 Main St. in Dayton

Mrs. Susan Wissler owned and operated a millinery shop at this location while serving as mayor of Dayton from 1911 to 1913. Mrs. Wissler was the first woman mayor in Wyoming and the first woman to serve consecutive terms as mayor in the United States. Mrs. Wissler was an excellent teacher and a successful business woman. It is appropriate that she was elected in the first state to grant equal suffrage to women.
