Alcova Reservoir
About 30 miles west of Casper on State Highway 220
Alcova Reservoir, below you, created by Alcova Dam constructed by the Bureau of Reclamation and completed in 1938, is on the North Platte River .The reservoir is four miles long, has 2,500 acre surface area, and a normal water surface elevation of 5,500 feet. Water from this reservoir is diverted into Casper Canal for irrigating Kendrick Project lands.

Casper Canal with a capacity of 600 cubic feet per second, is 62 miles long and serves 201 miles of laterals and sub-laterals.

The principal crops grown on the 24,000 irrigable acres are corn, alfalfa and feed grains.

Lake shore Drive, 2 miles back, provides a more complete view of beautiful Alcova reservoir. There you will find boat launching ramps, fishing, swimming areas, and picnic and camping sites.
