Point of Rocks
Elev. 6,509

This was once the Almond Stage Station, serving as a stopover for those headed to the gold mines at South Pass and Atlantic Cities. Its name is taken from the nearby sandstone ridge overlooking the Bitter Creek. The station was established in 1862. Now, Point of Rocks is mainly a company town for the nearby Jim Bridger Coal Mine and Power Plant.
