Horse Creek

This creek and the town were named for a Crow raid on a white trapping party, in which all the white’s horses were stolen. The party, passing through in 1824, included Jedediah Smith, Thomas Fitzpatrick, and William Ashley. Another creek named Horse Creek can be found in Sublette County, west of Daniel. It was named for wild horses, which roamed in the area.
