Big Sandy Crossing & Station Site
At the junction of State Highway 28 & U.S. Highway 191 in the town of Farson

The Mormon Trail and the main Oregon Trail to Fort Bridger crossed the Big Sandy River at this point before following its north bank to the Green River. A stage and Pony Express station was located here in the 1860s. This was also the first meeting place between mountain man Jim Bridger and Brigham Young during the Mormon leader’s initial trip to the Great Salt Lake Valley in 1847.
