Between 1920 and 1935, this flourishing coal-mining town boasted four underground mines in full production, named Cumberland 1, Cumberland 2, etc. Today only the Ziller ranch buildings and the cemetery remain. The abundance of children’s graves may have been the result of a cholera epidemic in the early 1900s, which claimed many of the young in those days. The cemetery is located just past the junction on Highway 189.
