| Stock Driveways were established under a provision of the 1916 Stockraising Homestead Act. Local ranch operators pay for trailing privileges along the Bates Hole Stock Driveway. Trailing occurs annually between May and November, with peak use occurring in June as herds travel to summer pastures in the Deer Creek Range, and in October as they return to home winter ranges.
