Casper College overlooks the city from the foothills of Casper Mountain. The college became Wyoming’s first junior college in 1945 and was initially located on the third floor of Natrona County High School. The first fall enrollment was 73. As enrollment continued to climb, the college hired more faculty and expanded its curricular offerings and its facilities to meet the demands of steady growth. The campus now covers 125 acres with 27 buildings. In the fall semester 2000, the enrollment was 3,972; including 1,852 full-time and 2,120 part-time students. The student population came from all Wyoming counties, 36 other states, and 12 foreign countries.
