Constructed for the storage of water on the North Platte River and for irrigation purposes in eastern Wyoming and western Nebraska.
This masonry, arch, gravity-type dam, structurally 214 feet in height with a crest length of 432 feet, is made of granite quarried from nearby hills. Constructed during 1905-1909, Pathfinder Dam is one of the first dams built under the Reclamation Law.
The storage capacity of Pathfinder Reservoir is 1,016,000 acre feet.
