Step back in time at the old Wheatland Mercantile originally built in 1890. Destroyed by fire in 1903, it was rebuilt in 1909 with locally made brick. Today, walk on straight sided oak floors, under the original ceiling of pressed tin. Gas chandeliers were replaced with electric lights in the 1930’s. Enjoy collections of old artifacts—some for sale. Shop for new items that range from 100% cotton quilt fabrics, lace making supplies, locally grown wool, and other dry goods items for all your stitchery projects. The store has a gunsmith/knifesmith, selling hand made guns and knives. They also do gun and knife repairs. Bead lovers will find a large selection of beads. They also carry model cars, planes, and miniature furniture, and First Day Covers for collectors of postal items.
